Cyber Essentials certification

The UK Government-backed baseline that covers the five technical controls stopping the most common internet-borne attacks. We check your estate against each control, close the gaps, and get your self-assessment submission-ready - so you certify with confidence.

What it is

A recognised baseline of cyber assurance

Cyber Essentials is a self-assessment: you attest that the five controls are in place, and an IASME-appointed Certification Body reviews your answers and certifies. We get you fully ready and manage the submission end to end. It is widely recognised by UK customers and increasingly asked for in contracts and tenders. From £320 excl. VAT depending on your size.

Forefront prepares and reviews your submission; your certificate is then assessed and issued by an IASME-appointed Certification Body. We stay with you from first call to certificate, so it is one smooth process, not a scramble.

What Cyber Essentials covers

The five technical controls, in plain English

  • 01

    Firewalls

Every device that touches the internet sits behind a correctly configured firewall that blocks untrusted inbound traffic by default.

  • 02

    Secure configuration

Systems are hardened before use - default passwords removed, unnecessary accounts and services stripped out.

  • 03

    User access control

People get only the access they need, administrator accounts are separated, and access is removed when it is no longer required.

  • 04

    Malware protection

Anti-malware, application allow-listing or sandboxing is active on the devices in scope to stop malicious code running.

  • 05

    Security update management

Software is supported and licensed, and high-risk security updates are applied within the scheme’s timeframes.

FAQ

Cyber Essentials questions

How much does Cyber Essentials certification cost?
Our Cyber Essentials readiness starts from £320, Cyber Essentials Plus from £999, and a combined CE and CE+ engagement from £1,299. The exact figure depends on the size of your estate; see our pricing page or ask for an exact quote.
Does certification include cyber insurance?
Some Cyber Essentials certifications carry limited cyber liability cover for eligible UK organisations, subject to the scheme’s current terms and eligibility. Treat it as a modest add-on, not a substitute for a proper cyber insurance policy - always check the current conditions.
Is certification annual?
Yes. Cyber Essentials and CE+ are valid for twelve months and must be renewed each year to stay certified. We can support you through renewal and keep your readiness current between assessments.
How do I get started?
Tell us your organisation size and which certification you need via the contact form, or book a short call. We scope the work, send you an exact quote, and map the fastest route to your certificate.
